borrowed or blue- how we work

sample packs
all of our designs are available to buy as an individual sample or a sample pack that has a collection of our designs from pearls and lace to rock and rose – we think its really important to see a range of designs, to get the best ideas, not necessarily all ours!

your save the date card or wedding invitation are the first glimpse your guests have about the style of your wedding so it is really important to get it just right.

all of the sample packs are delivered to you in a sugalily keepsake box. we at honeysuckle cottage are completely obsessed with packaging as you will see if you order with us!

samples can be ordered through the shop, and we usually aim to get samples out within 10 days, but please let us know when you order if you would like them sooner than that and we will see what we can do.

deposit
so you have now pondered over several glasses of merlot, rose, chardonnay (delete according to taste) the benefits of a vintage inspired decorative wedding invitation or a traditional announcement card. please remember girls and boys as much as we like to give you our thoughts and ideas the decision really is yours, but we never, ever get bored of talking ribbons and trinkets and we dream in diamantes, so please ask away, anything is possible.

so once you have chosen your wedding invitation design from our ranges or we have designed you something that you’ve been dreaming off since you were knee high to a grass hopper, we will be able to send you over a quotation.

there is a price list on the website just to give you an idea, we know we’re not cheap, but then neither is caviar.

so we then need written confirmation (beer mats accepted) that you are going ahead with us the and a non-refundable 50% deposit by cheque, credit or debit card or bacs transfer (we don”t accept monopoly money or icelandic currency, yet).

we will also send out to you our terms and conditions and contract for you to sign, it sounds really very formal, but really is just so that we all know where we stand with deadlines and payment.

just so you know the total cost will also include typesetting, proofing and one set of amends (go on then, maybe two). production work will not begin until we have both your deposit and order, to avoid disappointment we urge you to do this as soon as possible.

any remaining balance will need to have crossed our palms before delivery of your wedding invitations, not that we don”t trust you, of course.

if you think you may like information and rsvp cards, please consider ordering these at the same time as the invitations as this will keep your costs down, but this will all be included in your quotation.

proofing
once we have finalised the design you will receive your first pdf proof through e-mail. the first proof is complimentary but if you decide to change your copy there will be an additional amends charge at £20 per set…but that’’s not a hard and fast rule.

once you have approved the pdf you will receive a printers contract proof which must be signed and returned before going to press.

once the printers proof is ok’d by you then we usually aim for you to have your invitations with you to play with within 5 weeks, but can work to shorter and longer timescales. please tip us the wink if a much quicker turnaround time is required when you order as we can usually work to most deadlines, providing were not checking out the sun, sea and surf anywhere from glamorous skegness to good ol’ st tropez.

everything but the kitchen sink!
the information we need to design your other items – for example order of service, menus – ideally need to be with us seven to eight weeks before your wedding. the exception to this is information for place cards and table plans and place cards, which you can send up to two weeks before the day.

as with the save the date cards, invitations (day and evening) information and rsvp cards, you will see proofs for all items either by pdf, hard copy or time permitting, both.
